So what is JROTC? Junior ROTC is designed to teach  high school students the value of citizenship, leadership, service to the community, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment, while instilling in them self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline. Last school  year our cadets volunteered over 4,000 support hours to the school and local community.   In addition, these hours help our students earn college scholarships.

The program prepares high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and  privileges as American citizens. JROTC is a stimulus for promoting graduation from high school, and it provides instruction and rewarding opportunities that will benefit the student, community, and nation. Simply stated, the program prepares our cadets for life after High School.

HOOAH!

Golden Gate High School JROTC took its 2nd annual "We Love Our Country Citizenship Visit" to Washington D.C. March 27-31 2010.  This trip was for our graduating senior cadets who have given thousands of hours to our school and community over the past four years.  The visit also prepared them for the rights, responsibilities and priviledges of being American Citizens.  This experience would not have been possible without all of fthe wonderful sponsors and supporters from our community who care about our kids and our future.  THANK YOU!!!     Click for pictures.

July 4th Parade - Downtown Naples

Cadets marched proudly in the July 4th Parade in downtown Naples.  This is the first time we have participated in this parade because it is held over the summer.  However it will not be the last because of the overwhelming appreciation & support  from the Greater Naples community. Click here for pictures.

Liberty Ball Support

For the 2nd consecutive year, cadets provided support for the Knights of Columbus Our Lady of the Rosary Assembly #2542 Liberty Ball. Our assistance included helping to honor four veterans from previous wars to include WWII. SGM Barchers was one of the honorees.  Our drill team also preformed a routine for the audience. What a wonderful organization and we are proud to be part of the Liberty Ball.  Click for pictures.  (the Assembly truly cares about our cadets and they generously donate $1,000 a year to our program...HOOAH!)

65th Anniversary of World War II Ceremony

Golden Gate High School JROTC was instrumental in the planning, organizing and running of the ceremony at Naples Memorial Gardens to commemorate that 65th anniversary of World War II.  Twenty-three cadets provided color guard, wreath laying, set-up, tear-town and other support to the ceremony.   SGM Barchers was the emcee of the ceremony and did a wonderful job highlighting our "greatest generation."  For images from  Naples Daily News click here                                    for the Naples Daily News Video of the Ceremony click here
